A pack of 5 Bacteriostatic Water for Injection, each vial containing 30 ml. Regular sterile water is single use and free of additives, commonly applied for dissolving compounds or rinsing wounds. Bacteriostatic water, however, includes 0.9 percent benzyl alcohol, which slows bacterial growth and allows multiple withdrawals from the same vial. Researchers prefer bacteriostatic water because the added benzyl alcohol functions as a bacteriostatic agent in controlled experiments. It should be stored at room temperature in a closed space, never in the freezer. Once opened, the vial must be sealed properly and not used after 28 days unless the manufacturer provides different instructions.
